This drake came very close and the light was gorgeous. All opinions welcome. Had to save at 80-something(always have to do that for Gadwall). hence some jpg compression artifacts are seen in the BG.

The bow wave and water droplets really make this portrait stand out even more. Nice job.

Lovely light and composition. I really like the scalloped feathers on chest. Why do you say you have to save gadwall at 80 something?

Such a beautiful portrait Kaustubh. That light is to die for. Great detail and BG. Love that drop of water in the hollow of the back.

Sweet looking bird and you really took advantage of the golden light. Very nice composition. It just seems right.

KD, good angled pose, lovely warm light, and I do like the colours of both the Gadwell and the blues of the water. The droplets add a nice touch.

Gail, its because of the intricate pattern. Even after resizing the file is usually much larger than 250Kb.

Ramesh, at some venues here that are frequented by people, Gadwalls come pretty close to the shore. Duck photography is quite difficult in India, I agree. But you guys seem to have a great spot for eye-level raptor photography down there in Bangalore. I'd trade my spots for that any day :-)
