    Default Cheetah in Gold

I might end up boring you with the cheetah images I brought back from our Kgalagadi trip ...

On this particular morning I was first out of the gate of the Nossob camp (this is a self-drive location...which I love doing...if you know a bit about spoor you can track some of the cats walking in and around the dirt roads at dawn). I found 2 young male cheetahs stalking and chasing a steenbok, but failing in taking it down. Afterwards they strolled towards me. This one was younger than his buddy...and the light was as sweet as only the first rays of sunlight in the Kalahari can be!

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s with Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II + 1.4x TC @ 700mm
    f5.6 @ 1/640 SS @ ISO-1400
No crop - full frame as shot...I wish I had a wee bit more space at the bottom though

Hi Morkel, might need to start posting some of mine to break the Kgalagadi cycle.

Like everything about this when I fist saw it a few days ago, great light which really makes those eyes come to light, lovely rich amber colour. The BKG has a lovely soft quality about it which compliments the sleek, agile qualities of the Cheetah. Nicely timed to get the raised front paw slightly crossing the other front paw. The light catching the FG blades of grass works against the diffused BKG too. Personally I would like a hint more FG, but no deal breaker and happy as presented.

    Cool image.

Morkel, I think this is, as you folks say, "a cracker"! Beautiful, for all the reasons Steve has already mentioned. Congratulations!

Absolutely a stunning cheetah image Morkel, it seems to glow with life. I love the complementary tones and the delicate portrayal of the cheetah which along with the concentrated look in his face makes a very interesting and engaging photograph. Really nice IQ as well and much better seeing it here than on FB.

    Morkel,

This looks better (higher IQ?) at the other place.

Very nice indeed, the pose is so typically Cheetah

Skinnny.....but love the sidelight, it creates the depth/ 3-D effect very well.

Very nice surroundings with lovely colors. Like the look on her face very much..>I really dont see the need for any more space at the bottom. I feel it works well as is!
