She was making a snatch and run. There were several tall oof grass stems which I removed. Photo is cropped on left and bottom.

Man, this is so good it's sick. The colors, the crispness, the eye contact. Fantastic job, Dave. What is actually in her talon, BTW?

Well done dave! I like the layered BG and the head turn. One of your best. As Melissa asked-what is in the talons?

A superlative image with great wing position. I like the feet in different positions. TFS.

I wish it was mine. I would move the bird to the right just a tad.
    Very well done.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Very much appreciated. The hawk had dropped down in some deep grass just in front of me. It popped up shortly later with talons full of turf and, for the hawk's sake, hopefully a mouse or vole. So what you are seeing is most grass, leaves and typical vole habitat.

Love the clean background Dave and sweet flight pose. Nice to see that you are not overlooking the hawks for a certain other species LOL.

Excellent behavior shot Dave. Great HA you got there. Love the wing position captured as well. I might consider toning down the brights just a tad.

The foot clutching the grass and the way in which the leg sits really adds interest to this photograph. The light on the bird is awesome.
