I was crawling towards the Pintals when this Pelican landed a little too close. clipped wings in orig and cropped a bit tighter for presentation here. Let me know if it works for you. I liked the assymmetrical feet.

Artie, saw your blog post yesterday which reminded me of this image.

I'm not usually a big fan of cropped wing shots but this really works for me. Great angle, colors, control of the whites, and details.

No problems with the comp from me Kaustubh. It allows you to focus more closely on the bird and the feet, which are great. Good angle of approach, detail, exposure. Only small crit is the two oof lines to the left of the head.

I am never crazy about these shots because I look at them and think ...oh...clipped the wings and the photog is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Having said this, the techs are perfect and the whites are perfectly exposed. I would eliminate the 2 bright OOF branches to the left of head. I too, like the feet.
Overall, a keeper but still wish for the entire bird!

WoW!!! Superb shot. Love the landing pose, excellent control on the whites, and the feet position is great.
    Well done.

    I like this one.
Like usual, your techs are right on.
I do agree the oof lines have to go. If mine, I think I would try and darken up the ULC to try and get a closer match the rest of the background.

Hey KD, Im amazed at the DOF for this large fellow. Overall well exposed, which in turn has brought out the detail on the chest area very well. Im another who is always in two minds about 'chopped off' wings/ limbs, but as the quality is so good here, it works - well done.
