    I often shoot frogs and snakes while waiting for birds and here's one recent bullfrog portrait.
    They almost always face away from the shoreline and will sit for hours waiting for food "to pass by", just like me waiting for birds to pass by.

    400mm with 1.4x, ISO 800, f/11,1/400

    Hey Dave I like to do the same thing, I am always on the look out for other subjects when I am waiting.

    Like the great eye detail and the duckweed.

    This image would have been really nice if a cloud would have helped block the strong sun. Sometimes you can use your own shadow to block the sun.

    Hey Dave, great close-up and agree with Robert about the lighting. I carry a diffusser to shade these guys, and it can be held far enough away as not to scare him off. The colors are much richer in the shade, but then you lose the great catch light you got in the eye. Well done.
