Default Crank Up the ISO or Go Home

There's plenty of activity at the Bosque after the sweet light vanishes for the day. To get the shots, you've got to be willing to push your ISO well into the 4 digit numbers. It's either that or pack up the gear and head home for the day.

Doug, I really enjoy these cranes of yours - they always seem to produce excellent images, be it in flight, or perched on the ground. Good job with the high ISO here, and still only 1/800. Well you have captured a good flying posture, and I do like the different coloured layered BG. Well placed in the frame too. Pity you guys are a bit far, would be great to go out with all you guys and girls. Cheers.

    Doug:

The angle in frame and pose here is great, I like being able to see both ventral and dorsal views of the wings. It took me a sec. to realize that the gray objects at the bottom were other cranes, but I think they add some context without be obtrusive at all.

I would be tempted to run a bit more NR on the background. It has just enough noise to be noticeable for me.

    Cheers

You can see the high ISO, but the image has a real pleasant pastel quality to it.

Spectacular image, Doug !! Like the angle - the wing position and the supporting background. All this at 1/800th very well done. Better come Downunder for some Broglas and Sarus Cranes you would have a ball.
