    Default Suicide month Pt 6

    Attached Images Attached Images

I've left the other buffalo still in the frame and could have cropped it out, either way, but it showed the calmness at times the other buffalo
seemed to portray as his mate was copping a full round house clawing on his back.
At times the rest of the pride even took time out to grab a drink as the battle developed into a series of rounds.
I, unfortunately didn't have all day to capture a lot more of the action as light as diminishing fast.

    Marc,

Seems to me that the animals were doing all they could to interfere with your image making. You have to question the behaviour of the 2nd Bufallo, why on earth was it stood there?

A definite "if only" image, the full head would have made this perfect, but at least it gives you an excuse to go back

Personally I would try a heavy crop of the LHS.

Very interesting series of post. Agree to comments above. Would now possible like a even more wide-angle image, to overview the situation. To bad the head is shadowed. In this pictures really nice action with all the splashing water. Looking forward to next image.

Marc - Another in a fascinating series though I agree with Ken about the animals doing their best not to give you the perfect image. The position of the lion and the water spray add to the image.

Interesting. One would think the unattacked buff would either run or help out. Guess he didn't want to get involved. Even the one being clawed seems more like its being annoyed by some pesky insect rather than about to become someone's meal. I like the water trail coming off the round house claw swipe.

Marc the action here is super, love the blurred paws and splashes with the sharp buffs. I do wish that LHS buff was either not there or standing in such a manner that the victim's face was visible...
    Next frame????....

Wonderful series Marc! I witnessed the result of this battle too. One of the buffalo's actually didn't die and got stuck in the mud at the edge of the water. It only died a day later, being eaten, while alive, from behind by crocodiles. The lions didn't bother.
Which camp were you staying? Nsefu or Lion Camp? Or maybe Tafika?

    Hi again Egile!

Met you a few times whilst (mostly) with Patrick (Kaingo) and Brian (Tafika) having stayed 24 nights in SLNP.
You're quite right about the mud stuck boy ending his life the next day, was going to mention that in my posting of that image.
You might remember me commenting on how for me I was glad you collared the no-tip female lion after this buffalo attack.
