Another one taken during my wood duck workshop with Matthew Studebaker in Oct at Chagrin ponds, Ohio. Just really going through these now and finding ones I like that I hadn't really worked on yet. Wondering if people like this better than the last one of this same drake, posted a couple days ago, I do think it is a better presentation of the full wing. Would love to know what others think.

I lightened some dark patches in the background. Crop of maybe 40%. Sharpening. Recovery in whites.

I greatly appreciate all C and C. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful Shot. I love the colors of these ducks. Love the low angle.

If I wasn't before - I am now completely sold on this workshop.
These pics are simply brilliant. I'm looking forward to opening this image again at home on a better monitor than the one I have here at work so I can fully appreciate!

    Melissa:

Both of these images have been excellent. I think they need to be printed or displayed together to show the alternative wing positions

Again, excellent display of their many colors, esp. the green on the primaries.

I might try a version 1/4 to 1/3 stop darker, but that is just personal taste.

    Cheers

Melissa these are both beautiful, but I like this one better, an absolute killer shot. Excellent exposure, pose and detail. Well done!

I prefer this wing position but I do like the water droplets in the last image. Looks like you had a successful trip!

Fabulous Melissa! Those colors are fantastic, and the low angle really gave us a wonderful background. Nicely exposed and processed.

Wow, that guy is quite the showoff. And you have brought out the best in him Melissa. Great low angle, perfect wing position, nice smooth BG. This one has it all. I like Randy's idea of a tad darker.

Melissa, equally good. I love the sharp wing tips here...but the tail in that one was special :-) no need to compare really...both images are worth being proud about.

Thank you all for your comments! Here is a repost for Randy and Dan that takes it a 1/4 stop darker.

Just enough to reduce a slight bit of glare on beak, neck and flank. Works for me!

    Melissa,
I really like this image allot The tonal qualities, low angle, forward wing stroke, IQ, and eye contact are all very captivating, You were certainly a gifted student at this workshop and made the most from your experience as this is truly a beautiful image!

I have to say both images are fantastic, but I enjoy the sharpness of the wings more in this one but the pose better in the other one...Dont often say " I wish it was mine'...But in this case I do!

Melissa, you have just set yourself a high standard to continue with. Excellent work, great image, maybe slightly better than your previous one. Congrats on your work.

Thank you so much Stuart. Not sure I can reach that standard again--esp with the dearth of birds around here now--but I'll sure be tryin!
