Default December Theme: Birds Bathing! - Gentoo Penguins

From Leopard Beach, Carcass Island, the Falklands.

My interest in this scene was piqued by the birds, their actions, and what for me was an attractive environment. Among the actors were two actively bathing Gentoo Penguins, several that had completed their baths, and more that seemed to be thinking about it.

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Norm, You are right, lots of interest and interesting behavior in this image. Flying droplets add additional interest and help to tell what is going on. You reference the environment. I feel as if a crop from the top gives more focus on the birds. You'd still have plenty of environment left between what they are standing on and the kelp in the upper left corner, imo.

    Norm:

Good image for this months theme.

I like the varied actions, the confrontation of the two lower right birds, flying water.

The BG is a little busy, but it really sets their environment nicely. I like the large rolls of kelp(?) in the BG, adds some interest, keeps the eye moving around.

Looks like some of the whites are lacking some detail, but it is often difficult to show the detail with wet birds.

    Cheers

A happy and pretty scene. I believe a little off the top would improve it -- so my eye does not wander quite so much.

I like the sense of movement and interaction. Would certainly take some off the top

Norm, Good job on the repost. Now I really get involved with the penguins and what they are doing. (The image still retains its sense of place, tho).

Very fun image . I'm finding myself re-visiting to make sure I got all of the story there... lot's going on.
