    Default Suicide month Pt 4

    Attached Images Attached Images

    5.48pm. +temp still hovering close to 40C!
The activity was really ramping up now, as the no tail tip female the best & most experienced hunter of the pride led the way by
climbing on the back of the first buffalo.
At this stage there were 3 adult females and 4 sub adults in the thick of it.
We sat back and observed from a distance............. but now (with heart/excitement level racing ) needed to be closer as I upped the ISO to 6400 & f/4 in order to keep a reasonable S/S.

D3s 500VR 1/400s f/4 ISO6400 Luangwa River, Sth Luangwa NP Oct 2011 -cropped (top & bottom only) to pano.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Marc - fantastic action. I think IQ has suffered from high ISO but I would have been shaking too much to even get the shot.

Looking forward to the continued story.

Agree Rachel, at this distance even with the D3s, ISO quality was always going to be a factor, .....hence my need to get closer.
    .......stay tuned

    Marc,

Certainly a case of "right place right time", never seen this in all my days

I think this needs just a tad of "warming" and there seems to be just a little touch of blue on the Bufallo, hardly surprising given the light levels and high ISO.

I would have posted a repost but internet is down.

Even with the high ISO, the IQ has held up quite well for posting a fascinating continuation of this series! Super action, you must've been thrilled
I like Ken's crop suggestion, you might be able to work out more details from the original...

If you want all-day Buffalo-Lion drama you need to go to Duba Plains (I am made to believe from images seen and speaking to others who've gone)

Yes, that used to be the case but I believe with all the extra water now @ Duba, that sadly isn't the situation any more.
Grant A. may be able to shed more light on the situation right now?

Marc I was there a few weeks ago, 1000 strong buffalo, but the pride have split creating issues for hunting and the younger lions were looking rather thin & skinny sadly.
