    Default Red Tail!

This Red-tailed Hawk was being mobbed by Crows and as I watched its behavior I noticed that when it got feed up it would take off into the wind for a new perch. So I positioned up wind and got this almost full frame image. 1D MKIII on a 500 f4, iso 800, f5.6 at 1/1000, hand held just after sunup. Bob

    Bob:

Good anticipation here! Interpreting the behaviour and working to capitalize on it.

Sharp, well exposed, nice downstroke on near wing.

My only concern is that the small bank towards us, which shows off the tail and near wing well, brought the far wing up behind the head a bit so it isn't very well seen.

    Overall I like it.

    Cheers

A stunning specimen. Nice planning. Wish you had more DOF to get the near wing in focus.
