Default Pelican at super-low shooting angle.

It was very overcast but the sun peeked through. I waited for the Pelican to swim through that patch. Had to go super low for this pose and to be able to blur the water at that shooting distance. Had to crop tight at the top to exclude the opposite bank( which was dark). In hindsight, slightly higher angle might have been the wiser thing to do.

    Kaustubh:

You had to go pano with this image. I think your low angle is fine, just add a sliver on top to make up for the loss of dark background area.
Sharp, well exposed, shows off the amazing length of the bill.

Your techs are spot on but I would add about 10% more canvas on the top- cloning the water. Good call on the pano. Good exposure on the whites,

Nice image Kaustubh! I like the sharpness, details and exposure. I feel it needs a little more canvas up top as well so the Pelican doesn't look like it is being pressed.

I don't mind the crop, it fits the image and pose.
    The IQ is superb.

This is perfect in everyway for me, I think the crop emphasises the length of the beak

Beautiful job here, Kaustubh. Love your low angle, and the emphasis on length given by pose and crop. Perfect EXP and IQ.

I think that (aside from the technically spot-on exposure) one of the things that drew me to this is the crop - I like it! I am looking forward to checking this out again on my monitor at home.

KD, I like the detail and exposure in the whites, together with the texture of the bill. I do agree, that eye does look great. The pano does suit the pose, but adding to the top wont harm this either.

I love the crop...and the shooting angle puts the eye right at the viewers level.

Love the shooting angle on this one Kaustubh. Great job exposing those whites and love the light on him.

Very nice shooting angle, sharpness, detail and exposure control look spot on to me.
