I like part of this photo. I like them walking in a diagonal over the picture. I would wish even more DOF to get the first lion sharper. The upper half I don't like so much. For me the green grass is disturbing. (I like water, sand and burned yellow grass - but not so much pieces of green here and there. Green grass is difficult I think.)

I like series though. Would be nice to be abel to post together, as it tells the story better. Looking forward for coming pictures.

Marc - another interesting pov and unusual shot. I too wish the lead lion was in focus but like the comp. The eyes of the cub looking at you look a little strange. Maybe you sharpened them more or lightened them? Wow, ISO 3200 .

    Marc,

My preference would be for the lead lion to be sharp. Good use of the diagonal (lions crossing) to add impact to the image. I would prefer the right side to have more room and the lion not so close to the edge.

    Marc,

I agree entirely with Robert's critique on this one.

    ...........Hmmm
Have used selective USM on the middle 2 lions only, plus a small amount of Nik tonal contrast.

Nice work at ISO3200. The D3s is something else.

I have to also agree with Robert's comments.

Hi Marc, perhaps a difficult call when faced with an image like this, where to focus.

Personally I like the idea of focusing as you have done, for me it still conveys the crossing, the fact the lead lioness is still moving whilst the middle ones have got caught with your presence, I guess from the shutter noise, diagonal line works well. However, I would agree on more room if possible to the RHS and a hint more above.

I agree with Steve here, Marc...I like that you focused on the one giving you the look as opposed to the "ignorant" lioness in front.
Also agree on his space suggestions.

Looking forward to more of this series...
