Scared veteran
Followed a female, her cub and a young male for a day at Lake Nakuru, Kenya. It was very interesting. Finally the trio was chased up in a tree by a buffalo. (Got a nice series of that, but there is no good place here to post series?). We thought first the lions would attack the buffalo, but it went the other way. Here is a pic of the female in the tree.

Lovely IQ and intense look on the face is great...She sure has had a few battles. The light tunnel thing (Not sure what to call it ) doesn't work at all...It looks very unnatural

The "light-tunnel" is from vinjetting (-55) I put on in LR3. Very easy to tone down or take away. Will be intressting to hear what other people think. Thanks for the comment.

Another vote to get rid of the vignetting. It really takes away from the image.I am also not crazy about the butt first angle. Would prefer the head in the foreground.
Please repost without the vignetting! She sure is battle weary.

OK, absolutely. This is a repost without vinjetting. There is a little tunnel-effect anyway. Propably from the sun.

Hi Gregor, perhaps not the greatest POV having the rear so close to view, but the pose certain conveys the form, structure and physic of this battle scared female. Certainly prefer the repost, however if you have applied any contrast I might just ease off a little and agree on some selective USM. Keep things simple.
Agree, but do what I'm doing with my series
Suicide month, by submitting in parts.
Sounds like something from Silence of the lambs Marc.

I too am not a fan of the vignette and prefer the repost. I agree about another round of selective sharpening.
TFS,
Rachel
P.S. While she may have been "scared" I think you actually meant "scarred".

I second Rachel's comments.

The original post does have a unique look to but but I have to agree with the comments and prefer the repost. Second thing that came to mind was sharpening which has already been suggested.
Did you get a chance to photograph her from another angle?
-
If YOU like the viginette, you can certainly tone it down. I thought it too strong but they can add something to a photo.
She's beautiful and love the scars left by her prey. I agree with the sharpening, and I think it's a little dark. Try raising the exp a bit or some fill light. Lightroom does great with that.

I too think the vignette is a bit strong, Gregor. Like Stan said, it's your photo, so you are welcome to keep it.
I certainly prefer your repost and think it can stand a bit more sharpening as presented. Eager to see more!
