There are more than just Kingfishers at my favourite location in the Pilanesberg Nature reserve. I thought I would share a Starling with you. Taken at 7.08am and the BG is as shot.

What a cool-looking Starling Stuart! The light really helped bring out the iridescence. Sharpness is top-notch. And I like the curved perch. The bug is the icing on the cake!

Superb, Stu.We all know how difficult it is to get detail on these guys ,and you did very well ! The trick is probably to catch them very early , in sweet light , as you did .
I love everything about it !

That's one smooth BG with the variegated colour keeping things interesting. The perch is gnarly too And a bird with a bug is always better than a bird with out...

I like the positioning of the bird in the frame with the perch flowing as it does.

    Stuart:

Very well captured with great display of the iridescence, sharp, well exposed, good angle in frame, eye , prey.

    Fun perch.

I could see a version with a sliver off the left side, but excellent as posted.

    Cheers

Fantastic job on this Stuart, doesn't get much better than this. The soft morning light perfect for that irridescence. Gorgeous BG, and IQ.

Stunning image, Stu. Just love the light and the iridescence brought out by it.
The perch, the bg, the comp combined with the prey make this a winner.
