    Default Scrub Jay, Leucistic

Learned a new word over on Avian About Birds for this scrub jay. Still hanging out in the neighborhood.

Cloned branch, blurred bg (houses), large crop

Thought you might like to see the unusual pigmentation. Will keep trying for a better shot .

Different perspective I like it. Better with a clean bottom edge. See the uneven layer at the bottom in photography we call that a triangle and try to remove when possible. In this case I would probably remove all the perch. Large crop probably affected IQ but not bad for all that motion. Nice techs, f/8 and a fast shutter. Scrub Jays have strong family ties and have an interesting social structure. If John chimes in he can tell about it. Keep em coming, I like the original look and great species.

Interesting pigmentation, for sure. Attention is drawn to the bottom perch; at the least I might crop off the dark void at the very bottom. In a way, seeing at least some of the perch explains the flight pose to me. At 1/4000 it appears that the loss of detail isn't a motion blur, but might be due to focus on the perch more than the bird (in addition, of course, to the large crop).

    Jeff, Bill,

Thanks much for your comments. Er, the in flight shot wasn't exactly planned... focus was locked on where the bird was before launch .

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
