Things are heating up locally as duck season begins and the number of ducks wintering here grow by the day.

WOW! You are a master of BIF--I could look at this one all day. Love the details all around and the water drops on the head and those falling off the belly.

Superb, Jim. Nice light, sharpness and trailing droplets. Lovely fall colors in the BG take this up another notch.

The BG looks like a Rembrandt painting. I love the wetness of the bill and the feather detail on the belly and the tucked up feet. Simply lovely,

Great details, sharpnes and colours against a painterly background, James.
I wish we had the selection of ducks that you do on the West Coast.
    Love the dripping water too.

    Jim:

Excellent techs, sharp, neat pose. Very interesting background. It almost looks like it was zoomed during exposure to give the ray like effect above the bird. I obviously know you didn't zoom that lens, but that is what it struck me as.

    Very well done.

    Cheers

SHarp with nice detail! Like the BG too. Would run some noise reduction on the BG - looks like the D300s doesn't handle iso 800 that well.

I am generally not a fan of similar wing positions--I was pretty sure that I was not gonna like this from the thumbnail. But I was way wrong. With the primaries perfectly parallel to the back of the camera this one rocks! And the head so sharp as well.
