    Default Tony from Brisbane, Australia

    I always wonder why Americans show their town and state but not their country? It seems a bit dopey considering this is an international site. Anyway I am from Brisbane, Australia which is not in CONUS or lower 48 where ever they are

    I've been into photography for 30 years now since starting work in 1981. I've always had an interest in birds but never did much about it apart from snapping the odd shot if the opportunity presented itself. I've really been into cars and motorsport photography for most of that time. Lately, like in the last 11 months, I have become obsessed with bird photography since giving up shooting cars. In that time I have bought a 300IS and 500mm and 1D and for the most part I am really enjoying them. I say most part because the 500mm is an issue at the moment but I won't go into that.

    I'm a regular on feathersandphotos.com.au which is like this site only in Australia and perhaps a bit smaller (or maybe a lot smaller). I get the feeling they don't get my sense of humour, and they're Aussies! So what hope have i got here of fitting in? :) I probably won't be that active here. I mainly joined so I could ask Jay about his 300mm IS but I'm not really in a position to buy it unfortunately.

    cheers,
    Tony

    Welcome to BPN, Tony. I wouldn't be so hasty in deciding you won't fit in. Hope you participate here at least sometimes.

    PS. I think us Americans just tend to automatically think of our addresses in terms of the town and state without adding the USA at the end because that's how we always write our addresses.

    Tony you have a point. I try to include country and state - never assume anything.

    Aussies tend to be a bit cheeky - but so am I. We should get along just fine.

    Captain, you are cheeky ++!

    Tony, I am a Yank-A-Roo!1 Two passports; the USA came first.

    I am off South soon; perhaps we can shoot together next year when I return.

    Cheers Mate,

    Welcome to BPN.

    Start posting and you will learn so much

    Does it matter if I post Australian birds in your bird photos forums? I don't want to run the risk of stirring people up through my ignorance.
    I got into trouble on the Australian forum for posting exotic birds in the wrong place. So on here obviously Australian birds are now exotics.

    Tony, you can post any bird from anywhere. And, remember, there is a lot more that can be posted in addition to birds; check out all of the various forums.
    Cheers, Jay
