James:
Great wing position, like the feet and exposure. Good light.
The head looks a bit soft to me, perhaps a bit more sharpening.
Cheers
Randy
Another excellent flight image, as usual. I'm not quite sure about the placement of the bird in the frame--perhaps moving it toward the upper left corner a bit more would help if you have room or add canvass. Just a thought. (I always find it hard to compose horizontal images like this one because the head seems to end up either in the middle of the frame or too close to one side.) Anyway, a very nice image to add to your portfolio.
Comp works ok for me. Focus point may have been near wing rather than head, but considering how small and fast these creatures are, this is a fantastic flight shot in my opinion. I might try to remove the highlight and usm halos on the bill.
Congrats on this, this had to have been tough to capture as these guys are small and flighty fellows. First I have seen a shorebird (of this size) captured. Was there a flock of them and you focused on one? Or was this guy going solo in the air?
Not an easy image to get. Agree the head is soft.
Excellent flight shot, James. There is a white halo below the beak and above the rump that could easily be removed.

very cool Jim, maybe sharpen the head more
