This was taken in the spring at my backyard set-up. The BG is an OOF Japanese Maple. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

Jim, I like the 'crooked' perch - lots of character, and a lovely pose from the finch. Good sharpness for such a slow ss. The BG colour really jumps out at you, and it works for me. Backyard setups are so cool. One can experimen twith so many things.

Excellent image! Nice perch and BG, and I like the comp. Just a bit better HA would make this even nicer. I can imagine this BG would look nice with the male too.

    Jim:
This gives me ideas about how to use my Japanese maple!

Certainly a bit different BG look, which is fun. Interesting perch, pretty much in the plane of focus. Purely on a personal basis, I generally like perches that one end stops within the frame, and don't run out both ends. Problem of course, is getting the bird to land in the right spot.

Bird is sharp and well exposed.

Agree with Daniel, this BG should work very well with the male finches coloration.

    Cheers

    Randy

Thanks Stuart, Daniel and Randy. I got the male on this perch as well and posted it in May.

That BG jumps out to me as much as the bird does, nice clean BG as well. Really compliments the bird well. That Japenese Maple went well with the bird. It all goes very nicely together. Nice one Jim.

Lovely looking shot Jim and I really like the perch selection. A simple and very effective idea well executed.

Fantastic image Jim. The bg is to die for, the perch along with this sharp looking female make this a winner for me. Lovely!
