What a great shot. He looks like a water thick knee I saw in Botswana.
I love the yellow eye and the matching yellows of the flowers. Good low angle. Tack sharp and good exposure. Minor nit is that I wish I could see the feet.

I really like the habitat with the yellow flowers matching that huge eye. Very well done. Interesting how small, frail and frightened it looks. And of course it isn't.
This is a lovely shot with a great low angle.

Fantastic bird in a gorgeous setting. Like the habitat in this one a lot.
I love the yellow flowers and how they match the eye, but I wish they were separated from the body.

Nice Image. The vegetation contacting the bird is a little distracting but OK.

It does ahve a worried look to its eyes! Great bird, love the BG and floery surroundings...just wish there was separation by said flowers and the breast and tail. Are those two eggs in lower left corner? Pretty neat if it is.

Wow, knowing that those are eggs makes this even more cool. That eye is sensational and I love the complementary color in the flowers. I wonder about the evolutionary purpose for such a big eye.
    Marvelous image, thanks for sharing.

Melissa, this is a nocturnal bird - this is why it needs such big eyes...

Amazing picture, Ofer. The bird is striking and showing the eggs and habitat, makes it a winner.
I noticed it before that you have a great collection of bird images from Israel.
Any plan to go back for a shooting?

Thanks Karl! Yes, will be there for three weeks in April which is the best time to photograph birds in Israel with millions of migrating birds....

This is good news Ofer. I'm looking forward to seeing the new pictures. If they will be as good as this one (and why not) then it will a great pleasure seeing them.
