    Default Dawn at Lake Henshaw

Driving up to Julian the other morning, the fog was very thick coming off of Lake Henshaw (at the SE base of Mt. Palomar), could not see more than about 20 feet in front along the roadway. I pulled over to let some faster traffic go by, and saw this pleasant misty dawn scene on my left. Crop, ACR, CS5, saturation Tried a version with more detail in dark area on left, but felt going dark helped compliment the soft light on right and gave it more impact.

Wow. That is lovely, Brendan. The sweeping light and solitary tree give this a very calming, peaceful effect. Wonderful!

This is a wall hanger Brendan. The mood created by the light and the lone tree are what makes this shot. I also like the mountain peak on the left, as it balances out the tree. I would love to see this in real life in a 36" to 48" size.

Brendan, Glad you tried more luminance on the left side of the image as an alternative; I might have suggested it; but I feel as presented this works extremely well. The obscured mountain on the left balances the softly lite tree Anthe right. Great transition of colors in the image.

    Thanks all, much appreciated.
Gail, I am kind of curious to see how this would look at that size. Printing is a whole other area I need to educate myself on.

Hi Brendan, this is a very nice capture. Love the fog rolling across the scene and the way the tree really stands out. Great work!

I dig the colours here Brendan, as well as the simplistic composition. Mood to die for! Print and hang!
