    Default Capone's Cell

    From my workshop at ESP on Sunday with Susan Candelario. All my times there previously and I hadn't photographed Al Capone's cell! Had to get the lens through the bars. 7 image stitched in Photomatix. As important as exposing correctly in your bracketed sequence is to an HDR the PP'ing plays an equal and just as important role as well!....so many additional adjustments made in CS5. Saved at 61 Quality to fit.

    I have to admit I wasn't sure about this, at first. It's one of those personal preference things about the balance between natural and grungy in HDRIs. However, the more I looked, the more I liked it. You've done a masterful job in showing the incredible contrast between the furnishings and the cell, itself. Part of that was clearly in the original captures, but your processing is what really does it. Very, very nice job.

    Hey Roman, very nice work. Love the pumped-up colors and the grunge look too!

    I can't seem to stop looking at this. The "eye of God" from above, the shadows, the incredible contrast between the warm furnishings and and their stark location. You can just imagine a pompous, arrogant Capone waiting out his time there, assuaging his inner demons with this show of opulence and power. It's a wonderful image, Roman and speaks volumes about Capone.

    Hi Roman;

    Wow...you could play for hours with this image...come up with a dozen different takes...and I think all of them could speak to a viewer. This one gives a start contrast to the stark, barren walls of the cell and the rich opulence of the furnishings...the warm tones enhance the furnishings, and even bring a certain richness to the walls in some areas. It might be interesting to take this into Topaz B&W...convert and bring back just a hint of color...but then brush the color back in over just furnishings...just thinking out loud. Very nicely seen and captured...can't believe Capone even had an oil painting on the wall of the cell...and Persian rugs. Tongue in cheek, I thought of "Capone's Man Cave"......but that's just my sense of humor. Very nicely done!

    Nice image and application, Roman.

    The detail is great as is the quality of the image and lighting.

    This is a pretty cool looking prison cell, if that's possible. Great light, color, details. Nice one, Roman!
