Gull in Braids

This is a ring-billed gull, using a variation of Fractalius Glow 50 presets, with reduced opacity for the eye, followed by a variation of Topaz "Detail - Strong". Suggestions appreciated!

This is nice. I might've used a weaker Detail effect, but that's a personal preference thing. Revealing much of the original eye was a good touch. I'd have at least looked at doing the same with the bill, but that's another subjective call. I'm really taken with the background. It's very rich, works well the brown tones of the gull, and the dark edges -- especially with the black on the bill -- are a real plus.

Hi Mike, I really love this. You did a great job with the filter. Nice portrait and effect. I might try to lesson the edging around the bill. The eye looks great, real yet painterly.

Mike, there have been some good suggestions made...diminishing the edging around the bill in particular...it reminds be a bit of a wire frame drawing done in CAD. Nice, warm colors...wonderful textures...it's right on the border of me wanting a bit more and being a pure abstract...it adds a nice tension to the image when viewing. Nicely done.
