The problem with National Parks is that most restrict you to staying in the vehicle, this is not the case in Mana Pools.

I had to bum crawl for around 50 metres with a 500mm to get close enough to these Wild Dog pups , we could probably have got closer but they looked like they were about to move off.

Taken whilst laying flat supported by my more than ample belly.

    Hi Ken,
I like the detail, your amazing background and the lovely low POV. I would have liked a wee bit more space above the wild dog's ear on the right, but I am not sure if this was full frame, or if it was possible.
Well done and thanks for sharing. I have yet to see wild dog, but I can assure you it is not from lack of trying.
    Best wishes, Mark.

Ken - interesting about being able to get out of the vehicle. Good pov and pose. I agree with Mark about the ear and the top edge.

    Rachel and Mark,

Thank you for your comments, this was amost full frame, and I could not have been fully awake when I worked on it this morning, or I would have added some canvas as with a BG like this it could not be easier.

    Here is a repost

Ken, this is quite awesome! Absolutely love the poses, details in the pups, and the warm pastel BG/FG. Very, very nice capture! Repost rocks!

Also interseting about being able to get out of the vehicle at Mana pools. I am used to being on foot for everything I shoot here. Being confined to a vehicle takes some getting used to.

Very interesting info about Mana pools. It is so nice and unusual to see a low POV. Love the light and the BG. Repost is excellent,

Thanks to everybody for your comments.

    John,

Being in a vehicle can be a nuisance but perhaps not when you get close to Lions or Buffalo

    Gail,

Being on foot in Mana is positively encouraged, everybody can do it, with or without an armed guide.

This image outright rocks, Ken! Low angle, light and poses are awesome. Repost with more space if the way to go...

    Morlel,

Thanks a lot, being out of the vehicle really helps a lot and in Mana you are allowed even if you are a self driver.

There are fabulous camping sites along the river, but they need to be booked early!

Came back to this one as well. Super - only in Mana right?
We found some pups younger than these with the pack we sat with...but was soon as we crawled closer they sent them scuttling back to the den.

On the way out we met up with the guys from Painted Dog Conservation who were going to collar some of the adults, which will make upcoming photos less attractive.
