    shot in Umfolozi park Southafrica. Nikkor300mmf4 x2 Velvia slide probably 1/60 f8 >saturation < a bit brightness in Photoshop. ( The idea of semicounter light,here casual, non intentional, is learned from the french photographer Vincent Munier).

    It is really hard to say at this size, but I think the subject is too small in the frame and the environment is not interesting enough to make it a strong environmental image.

    Obviously, enlarging from the web image results in really bad quality, but I'm thinking a composition more like this.

    I think the bird is the center of interest here, but perhaps shouldn't be so centered. I like the idea of a horizontal environmental image, but would have preferred the branch take up less of the frame at this scale - say the bird and branch taking up only about 1/3 of the frame. This would then make a pretty cool image to use as a background in a presentation or a double page spread, etc. if it were sharp enough for those uses. Neat bird!
