    Default Flamingo Hangover

Took this at the zoo back in November last year. Liked the comp with the ripples, but the color was not looking so good. So decided to do an OOTB treatment and adjust the color via hue and inversion. Additional curve adjustments in CS5, followed by Topaz Detail and PB oil.

Brendan, I like the juiced up colors and the sharp details. Nice job with the application of the PB filter. The water looks awesome and so does the eye and bill!

You caught this just right to get those ripples. And you're right, they add a lot to the image. Very nice job with the filtering. The contrast in texture between the feathers and the smooth, shiny water and bill is very effective, too.

If this were mine, I'd flip it horizontally because I subscribe to the notion that the eyes of most viewers enter at top left and move right. If it's flipped, the curvature of the flamingo, especially, as well as the stronger ripples that would now be in the lower right would take the eyes around in a clockwise fashion and back to the top left, again. Perpetual motion, maybe not, but effective in maintaining the viewer's attention longer.

    Brendan,

This is great. Pink and purple colors are complimentary, the image design is sweet! I can see what Dennis recommending, and that falls into personal taste choices. The water ripples just make this for me. Very, very well done.

Thanks for the comments & suggestions, Denise, Dennis, and Jay. I think you do have a good point, Dennis, here's a repost with horizontal flip. Seems to flow better.
I also tried rotating sideways 90 degrees which was pretty wild looking.

Brendan, I think I like the repost better - it does seem to flow better. The colors are wild and the filtering really is perfect. Nice work

Brendan, this is such a surrealistic image...I think the repost is stronger, but I also think it works well either way. It has a dimensionality to it that is sometimes rare...it captures your eye and holds on. That eye is haunting...and the ripples make a strong image even better. Nicely done!

Hi Brendan, certainly an OOTB composition and I like it a lot! The contrasting colors and the ripples are awesome. The repost has a very nice flow...

This cracks me up, Brendan. I'm not a big fan of flamingos and to see one all juiced up and upside down is just plain funny. I love it

Awesome one Brendan!!! I'm OK with either orientation and the filtering is perfect!
