Quite a common bird in Ol Pajeta . Came quite close to our vehicle , so slid the door , to get low . Could not do much with the grass around . ( They were everywhere ) .

Camera : Canon 1D Mk III
    Lens : Canon 600mm f4 IS
    Aperture : f7.1
    Shutters : 1/640
    ISO : 200

    Cheers,

    Rakesh:

Good job getting as low as you could. Grasses don't bother me.

Because of the brightness of the grasses in the foreground however, I might do some very light burning in or even a little vignetting of the corners to keep our attention directed towards the bird. Perhaps try to match the luminosity of the left upper corner.

    Cheers

Great sense of habitat and excellent sharpness. Lots of life in the eye. I like the idea of darkening the FG a bit.

An interesting looking bird. Nice and sharp and stands out in the nice habitat. You might consider removing the one blade of grass sticking up on the bird's body. Very well done.

Rakesh, super pose from a very busy character - they never seem to keep still. Well done for getting down low, and I like the surrounding grasses. Good advice on toning down the grasses, it will surely make the spurfowl pop.

Rakesh, really like this shot. glad you could get low...otherwise, it just would not have worked. loved the habitat and the bird stands out nicely. excellent bird angle and exposure.

I think you were quite there on the edge with the SS due to low ISO. You pulled it off but I'd still suggest a higher iso. I always prefer to have that extra SS to catch an open bill or a raised foot or something.

Thanx for the lovely comments . Now that I look at the image , I too feel I should have toned down the FG and BG a bit . Re posting with suggestions on darkening the BG and cloh the OOF grass on the body .

    Rakesh;

This one works better for me. Not only the BG, but the bird looks better with a little less exposure. He really pops now.

Repost looks great - bird pops out. I get the feeling that the bird is out in the open for a short time before going back into the grasses and undergrowth. Nice HA.

Repost is much stronger Rakesh - hopefully it reflects the appearance of the bird in real life. Well done!

An excellent image, I also like the repost better.... to me the sense of habitat adds that little extra to the image.
