I was shooting AV for demonstration images for some upcoming presentations. +2 EC gave me whites just to the left of clipping.

Interesting treatment, I like its effects more on the water than the gator (a bit grainy for my tastes). I think the grain overpowers the texture and lines of the gator's skin.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. I did have one where I toned down the affect on the gator. I will take another look at that. Normally with these types of treatments I need to live with it for a time to decide on alternate versions. If I reduce the sharpening by 50% of what I had it at, the gator does not appear as "crunchy".

Your feedback is helpful and appreciated.

    Hey Robert,
I too like the treatment but do agree with Steve's assesment. Look forward to the other treatment!

I was thinking that I love it just as is, however, it would be interesting to see it without the treatment on the gator for comparison.

Redo with just 1/3 the sharpening of the OP. Gator is not as crunchy. Anything else and I am back to the drawing board with a complete redo.

    Thanks all for the comments.

Redo works for me! It really cleared up the eye nicely too! Subtle but very effective difference!

I like the repost Robert. The process is new to me and seems to work well with this subject. The effect on the water is quite amazing.

Thanks for the input. I like the redo too.

    Workflow was:

    1) Topaz Adjust - Desaturate Detail
    2) S-Curve adjustment to boost contrast
    3) My normal jpg sharpening backed down to 1/3 its normal amount using the opacity slider.

I guess when I processed it at close to midnight, a full day at the computer and everything looked soft. When I looked at the OP the next morning, it was very obvious to me it was over sharpened.

Interesting approach to the treatment Robert, guess a lower POV was not on the cards then.

I prefer the OP as I really like the effect on the water, but as for the subject I'm not sure, however I think it's my age coming through, LOL. Would a slight CW rotation help?

Nice to see you posting here to Robert, would like to see more.
