Beautiful colors on this little Dunlin - I've never seen one in this juvenile coloration in our area. Colors nicely enhanced by the lovely light. Sharp as a tack. Great low angle makes me think I should invest in an angle eyepiece.

Thank you for your feedback. I like to use angle eyepiece. When I lie long on the stomach to photographing, I am not stiff in the neck. It takes some time to learn to use it, because it is difficult to find the bird in the eyepiece.

Geir, I've spent many hours lying on my belly, sometimes with good results. But there are times when the angle eyepiece might have been a good idea. I recall once in Virginia last year when I found out, alas too late, that the ground was covered with tiny, lethal thorns. When I went back this year, I avoided any belly shots from that location. The eyepiece would have been just the thing.

A nice fresh juvie. Bill, by the time they get to the states all juvenal Dunlin show at least some molt. Like the side portrait style. I wish that that dark parts of the BKGR were behind the bird and the light parts of the BKGR were behind the bird's head.

Geir - lovely image with sharp details and nice pose. I might try to tone down the highlights on the bill.
