Wow! That is really a stunning portrait. Beautiful looking Wood Duck, Excellent IQ, love that bright yellow ring around eye, details, texture of feathers. The brilliant, rich autumn colors and curving lines to the ripples make this a work of art! Wish for just a little more below. Well done!

Wonderful job, Josh. Great sharpness and IQ. Love the crazy beautiful BG.
I was posting a drake as you were posting a hen!

Beautiful image Josh! I like the details, sharpness and that incredible water colour. Do you have any images with the whole duck and that beautiful water?

Stunning. The water without the duck would be a nice work of art; with the perfectly captured hen it's a killer image. I'm still looking for a place to find Wood Ducks up close. Maybe it's time for a trip to Ohio?

That is a really exceptional bg and good for you to be able to take advantage of it. Also well done on the fill flash. One more thing to tackle this winter.

Josh - terrific shot for all the reasons already mentioned. Amazing detail and texture in both bird and water. For my taste, the bird looks slightly over-flashed.

Sharp with killer red reflections but needs to be wider. COMP is awkward as cropped. BTW, big time welcome and thanks a stack for your membership support.

I like everything but the crop. That red BG refllection is great. Compliments the greys of the bird well I think.

Josh, excellent exposure, detail and sharpness, and the colour of the BG puts this over the top. Another vote for more space on the right.

    Josh:

Excellent capture, colors, details, sharpness all good.

Put me in the too tight camp. I know how close they get in there at times, but a little more room would have been great.

    Water is wonderful.

    Cheers

I do actually have more room to add on the right and all the way around. This girl came in close enought that I only captured her head and half of her body. I have another verision of this photo that I printed out that has more space on the right hand side but never uploaded it to my website (which is where this one came from). I appreciate all the suggestions and comments made by everyone though. Want to pick up on those little things to put something over the top.
