    Great Horned Owl

Workshop: Laguna Seca Ranch, South Texas

    D3, 300. 1.4, f5.6, 1/4000, ISO 1250, Owl recording.(no live bait)

I used a call to lure the Owl on to my setup perch.
After posing for the group for many images, he decided to fly down to the speaker to check it out.

Outstanding - jaw droppingly good, Alan.
Amazingly good in every department. If anything, I'd add a bit more room below and to the right if possible, but is spectacular as is too.
Did he get your speaker? :)

This is a kick a** shot! Glad you had your lens on him when he flew down. Had you not, you would have been kicking yourself.

I had a speaker in a tree for a Barred Owl once. He came all the way down the tree, put his talon in the speaker and stuck his nose right into it trying to figure it all out. It was hystical. Would have made a good photo for a speaker ad campaign.

really incredible. well timed as this pose seems to be the "decisive moment" as Cartier-Bresson would say. Lovely light, beautiful background. Just perfection.
