Felt pretty lucky about catching this male Magnificent Frigatebird in flight with his pouch extended. It's not too easy to accomplish b/c they normally retract their pouches soon after take off, so you have to catch them at just the right time. The males are also difficult to photograph in flight b/c they are so dark, and it's tough to get light up under their wings. This is my best flight capture so far with pouch extended but will strive to do better next time and hope for some good light.

    Marina:

Impressive display of the pouch, you pulled a lot of detail out of the under wings despite the high to the right sun angle.

Soft light would certainly be your friend on this fellow.

    Cheers

Great detail in the blacks like Alan said. Congrats on getting the extended pouch in flight. I have hundreds of shots of these guys from Mexico, but never the breeding male with the red pouch.
