Shot out the window of my vehicle at a roadside bluebird house. A Swallow had taken over the place and he was on his way out when I took the shot.

Well I believe that you have his attention. I like this one....up close and in your face. Great detail. I don't know how much you might have initially cropped but there's some noise. I'd go ahead and crop even more of the blue box.....leaving a much smaller area....and even more impact on the bird. I did a quick crop, selected an area outside the head and did a quick blur. See if you like it.

There is a definite repetitive pattern above the bird in the dark area of the opening.
