    Default Black Skimmer (PERU)

    This one is from earlier in the year..
    was really nice to find them as they are a migratory bird here and are not really common..

    Great to get an unusual bird in your territory and to capture it in an image.

    Classic skimmer pose, like that his body is angle in such a way that you can see bottom surface on near wing, and dorsal surface of rear wing. Interesting that despite that angle of the body, it looks like his head is actually turned a fraction away.

    From a compositional standpoint, I agree about leaving enough trail in the water to show the action, but I would prefer him more to the left than posted.

    The 300s may be slightly better in the noise department than my D300, but I would be hesitant to let the auto ISO go up to 1600, just too much noise up there. D3, D3s or D700, could certainly stand that setting.

    Nice catch of the skimmer. I would have preferred the bird to be looking more our way. The skim trail doesn't bother me but I would have leveled it out. TFS
