    Northern Fulmar Dark Morph

    Workshop: ST. Paul Island, Alaska

    D3, 600, ISO 800, f5.6, 1/2500.

One of my greatest memories in the Pribilof Islands, was sitting near the edge of a cliff at 10.30 at night in sweet light, with Fur seals playing in the water below and numerous cliff dwelling birds flying by.
It was a thrill to see the adult dark Fulmar fly into the wind at eye level, then bank and come around and do it again and again. A photographers dream.

Spectacular. Checks every box to perfection, IMHO. Always nice when they give you a chance to predict their path, and to take another shot if you don't like the first. I don't know if just a tiny boost to the blacks on the bird would make him pop more, but it's a stunner in any event. Love the water color.

Definitely a dream shot, Alan! What a cool looking bird, and I'm amazed you got this at night. Like the detail, and the BG colors are awesome. I think Bill may have a point about adding just a tad to the blacks. Well done!

Great as usual, the BG color is a real plus, unusual and very attractive.

Sweet topside bank Alan! And a perfect head turn to boot! Must be nice to shoot ISO 800 at 10:30 at night!
