    Default Ocean Sunset

Taken yesterday at Carlsbad State Beach, CA. Liked the color, and lines of the clouds and waves. Cropped some off bottom to put the foamy wave in FG , but did not want to lighten it too much as main focus is sky. ACR, CS5, NR & Sharpening

I generally don't prefer the wave detail but here, the back and forth diagonals are compostitionally strong and guide the eye right into the image. Very well composed Brendan.

Very nice capture Brendan. I really like the colors in the sunset with the color of the ocean.

Brendan - beautiful colors and sky. I like it as is but also think it works well with the breaking wave eliminated from the bottom and just the rolling waves and sky. Nice to have alternatives.

    Kind of minimalist, Brendan.
The colors are great and I really like the FG wave.
The razor edge on the horizon makes the photo for me.
    A very nice effect.

I agree with removing the breaking wave. It looks too stiff because of the fast SS. Otherwise, really cool!

Thanks folks, much appreciated. I knew there was something about that breaking wave, and think you're right Jay, a slower shutter may have helped to soften it. Though I was pushing it already without a tripod. Rachel, thanks, I did try version without, but then I had the horizon too centered. I may try a composite, taking out the middle, and adding the more reflective bottom part I originally cropped off.

Good suggestions already above and I agree with them. Nice colors and look to this.
