Perfect banking pose - love the detail in the top side plumage. Is there some sort of shadow/mark next to the top right of the beak - transition point from the head to sky? I have looked close at the screen but not sure if I'm seeing things or not.

Tom that's not a shadow. it's hair, northern harrier juveniles have fine hair on the upper part of the beak. Here is a closer look at the unprocessed version.

Arash, super comp to suit the banking angle, which in turn shows off the feather detail nicely. I do like the colours on this girl. Well captured.

Thanks Arash - your images are always of a high standard so I was wrong. Interesting fact.

A perfect banking pose with excellent top side detail and eye contact ...
You did a great job given the not so ideal light, Arash!

Very nice subtle coloring here, Arash.
You can see the wing detail even better in this lighter shade.
    Very nice.

Arash, excellent top side view and details. Is it a tad too warm? or its my office monitor perhaps.

I like the detail in the feathers. Amazing that it is tack sharp at 1/1600 sec. I would have thought you would need a higher SS. Another beauty,
    Gail

I made the best effort to make it look like the real-life Juvi. The juvi's plumage is indeed a bit warmer than adult female.

Thanks Gail, harriers don't fly at high speed (except when they dive to grab prey or buzz other raptors) so you can def get tack sharp files at 1/1600sec. The main challenge with these guys is super erratic flight path and sudden maneuvers which is a nightmare for AF
