    This handsome fellow was imaged last year on Artie's Southwest Florida IPT in Feb. One of the usual stops has a pretty reliable group of white pelicans. You don't realize how big these guys are until you see them in with a bunch of browns.

    D700 70-300VR 270mm f/6.3 1/4000s ISO 800 Handheld

    Post: CS5 selective sharpening water cleanup, used Color Efex Pro detail extractor to tone down some hot whites

    I liked the pose, texture in pouch and clear view of the nail

    Advice and comments always appreciated

    Gorgeous whites Randy! The clarity here is as mentioned, impressive. Also like the sweet colors.

    Lovely pose, with excellent exposure and details, Randy. Would love to see and photograph this bird some day. Fantastic image.

    Very nice pose and the post processing is just about perfect the whites have plenty of detail and the image pops nicely. I can never get close to these guys down here

    A cool pose with the semi stretched wings Randy, and impressive exposure on the whites. I like the overall detail you have captured, especially on the head and bill. Those yellows look great.

    Excellent image. Really like the head angle and the slight lifted wings. Exposed perfectly, composed well, and real nice detail.
    Well done.

    Yes they are huge, I had never seen a pelican, until they stopped here. I was in awww of how big they are, yet are so graceful when in flight.
