It's nearing time for the Ospreys mating season to begin. This Osprey apparently thought his mate's back was a landing strip. Instead of flying in and landing in the nest, he landed directly on her back and proceeded to mate. Can't imagine she was deriving too much pleasure from those talons. I am told by a zoologist/photographer friend of mine who studies Ospreys that they mate at least 400 times before laying eggs.

    Marina:

Good timing to show the talons well, ouch! Nice to have a natural looking nest.

Whites perhaps a little warm at wing root and inside of far leg of the male.

Must be a night for osprey.

    Cheers

Great pose and light...Maybe a touch bright for my taste I would darken overall slightly...But a fine image none the less!

Hey Marina, great timing here, as we have a full view of those talons. I do like the the raised wings and overall sharpness, and your choice of comp works well. Thats quite a heavy duty nest they have.
