Default A Young Coop Stops By for a Visit

This frame was taken in the harsh light of the late morning during my last day photographing with Alan Murphy. I was fortunate that the bird lined up perfectly with the axis of the sun, because otherwise the shadows would have been too strong. I performed a little clean-up work on the BG and removed a small shadow in the bird's eye.

    Doug:
Nice look back pose, like the errant feather peeking out on the left, soft BG.

And, the DOF is good (unlike a recent loon posting by some fellow from Michigan )

    Cheers

It doesn't look like harsh light to me. Great BG and nice perch.
I am in your fine State, will be at Bosque for the next couple of days.

Doug, I really appreciated your honest input. I liked the rest of the image, and was on the fence about the impact of the DOF issue, but now I know how it effected other folks.

That is one of the real strengths of BPN, constructive criticism.

    Thanks again!

If you look at the shadow of the tail feathers, you can see how high the sun was in the sky. Check for a PM from me.

Hi Doug, the first thing I see straight away is your excellent DOF - top to tip of tail, all in perfect focus. Great look back pose, and I like your comp. Did you crop this to vertical?

This came out great Doug. I'm thinking my monitor may be off as I'm seeing a slight purple/magenta cast?

Excellent image Doug!! Perfect vertical comp, and the look-back pose is very nice. I do think the image as a whole could use a boost in saturation.

Excellent photo! Light looks fine to me but I would slightly boost saturation - something like this.

Sweet shot. Great over the shoulder pose, excellent detail, and great background.
    Well done.

Thanks for the repost Ofer. I agree that a saturation boost helps the image.

    Really a sweet image Doug,
Love the over the shoulder look and your composition is very appealing. The bird stands out nicely against the distant BG which is far enough it adds interest but is not distracting. The saturation boost looks great
