As a big fan of silhouettes I always take the time to create such images when the opportunity arises. On the original the very top primary was clipped, so I added canvas and reconstructed that feather tip. I don't usually have enough patience in post to do such work but here I thought the neat pose warranted an extra effort on my part to salvage the image

Canon 7D + 100-400L @220mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/7.1, ISO 400, darkened the silhouette via selective colour (added blacks to black channel), and warmed up the colours. I also lightened the band cutting across the top wing as it was way too dark for my liking.

This looks great, Daniel, very nice capture and comp. Great mood, love the light, translucence of wings, object in bill adds interest.
Nice touch with the processing. The extra work really paid off. Well done!

Certainly glad you went to the effort, Daniel. I love that backlighting and the effect on the outline of the feathers.
I also like the overall gold and brown tones. A very attractive image!

Very nice! I usually don't care much for silhouettes or seagulls but this one is an exception. I like how the light is coming through the feathers and the dynamic pose plus the food item. The BG makes it more attractive too, my only suggestion is perhaps sharpen the water drops more so they can be seen better. Great work.

Dnaiel, As a big fan of silhouettes this image really appeals to me. Great pose and details showing through the wing tips and tail. I might take a teeny bit off the top if it were mine. Great fix, I can't tell.

    Daniel:

A very well executed image, both aesthetically and technically.

Back lighting and rich colors make it. Even a back light snack, pretty cool.

    Cheers

Hey Dan, this banking angle really shows off the back lighting very well, and against a colourful BG. Good to see the food item so clearly, and great pp work on repairing the wing tip. A fine image sir.
