    Hello, thought I would share one from May of 2010. Already looking forward to their return. 50D, 500mm, f/5.6, 1/640, iso 640.

    Gary:

    Good job exposing the oranges, very easy to blow the red channel. Very sharp on eye and bill. Nicely scaled perch.
    Like his ' oriole toed' stance.

    well done...loved your exposure. the deep blacks and the orange...and the green...the bill texture...everything has come together.

    I didn't know you could get such nice looking image with a 50D at an ISO greater than 400! Your Oriole looks great, with an alert pose and sharpness where it counts. Good job!

    What an awesome shot, Gary. Hope that someday I can get an oriole captured this well. Makes me miss em, their return is still 6 months away.... arggh...

    Maybe just a bit big in the frame, but that is one sweet image of a bird that has eluded me (photography-wise) for too long now...so yes, I too am looking forward to their return!! The orange pops nicely against the BG's greens.

    Thanks Melissa they love our tall Oak trees and the hummingbird feeders. The cool thing is they seem to be increasing in numbers.

    A beautiful image. Love the exposure and light angle here. exposure is excellent. seeing this really has me wishing for spring already as well. nicely done!
