This picture was taken beside my feeder...from my hide.
I did the icy perch with a spray on a minus 25C day!

A very nice portrait, Pierre. I like the way the background complements the colors of the bird's breast. An interesting and attractive perch - I'll have to remember that trick. The falling snowflakes and the puffed up posture of the jay add to the wintery feel.

Nice pose and snow flakes made it for me.

A very nice portrait and a pleasing blend of grays. You can almost feel the cold!!

Great pose and perch, I have to try the spraying technique. I might try a slightly wider crop.

Shows the beautiful softness and subtle colours of the plumage. Easy to see the little tufts of feathers that protect the nares (nostrils) of this cold-climate species- very similar to chickadees.

Excellent portrait. Beautiful subject, complimentary bg, and the snowflakes are a big plus. The icy perch is lovely. I'll have to remember your trick....although I may not have too many chances to try it here in Florida! I'd go for a slightly wider crop if you have it. I really love this image.

I too will have to try the misting technique next winter. Thanks for the tip. The Gray Jay is wonderful, if it were me I would remove or move the snowflake just below his beak. Great shot!
