    Default Grey cranes and moon

This one is from yesterday evening about 15 minutes after sunset. There is a roost of the Grey crane (Grus grus) some forty miles west of Berlin in the Havel river floodplain. During the peak of fall migration, the number of cranes can easily extend more than 60.000 birds.
The image has been cropped significantly and the high ISO value doesn’t help to increase its quality. However, I needed a fast shutter speed to avoid blur of the birds.
    Hope you like it!

    Christian,

I really like this one, nice technical adjustments with the ISO to get fast shutter. Strong field technique with tripod too and I really appreciate the narrative as well. Cashdollar is a German name and I hope to visit someday. Love to see a large group sometime do you have other images. The composition is unique and love the flyer against the bright moon - nice placement. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this too. Love the design and I appreciate the skill needed to make this image. The BG is posterised and noisy. The noisy can be removed but not sure why the posterisation. Did you need to use a lot of jpeg compression to get under the BPN limit of 250kb?
