Default Look Mom, Dad is coming home - Common loon with chick backriding

    Attached Images Attached Images

The pair was imaged on June in northern Michigan. Early in the morning, a fairly dim day.

D700 600VR 1/4 TC f/5.6 ISO 800 1/200s Fill flash with SB800 Camera mounted on pedestal in bottom of my little boat, Loonie Too.

Post: Selective sharpening, rotated, added canvas front, top and rear, rebuilt clipped tail(from rotation)

Took more work than my usual posts, but I really thought the pose was worth it.

    Advice and comments always appreciated

    Cheers

Randy, great title, and well timed, as I like how junior is imitating mom's pose. I do like how you have brought out the green sheen on the head of mom, overall sharp, and the water compliments the pair nicely. Looking at the ripples in front, maybe a touch CCW rotation is needed. ( Ive based this on the thicker one in the middle ) Cheers.

Extraordinary image Randy! Your loon shots always inspire (as do your other images). I gotta get me one of these some day.

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.
I was fortunate to have them so close, clean water, so no cleanup, no noise reduction.

It is a privilege to spend time with these guys.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers

My only nit is the bill/back of head intersection. A little separation would have been magic.
