    Alfredo:

I like the composition a lot, excellent flash use, nicely exposed.

Agree about some more DOF. You were never going to get the rear bird sharp, but would have been interesting if it were just a bit sharper.

    Love the white feather curls.

    Cheers

I like the comp but just wish the bill of the first bird was a little bit too the left - filling the little gap between the birds and so bill is not touching the white feather. I like the dark BG and grey plumage of the birds. I have never seen this bird before and must say they are stunning.

I love the mating display with alternate head angles. Great colours. For me the comp is so-so. I think a more squarish comp or a vertical with the sides trimmed and more canvas top and below would have been better...I just feel like I would have liked more of the front bird showing. Still an appealing and fun image.

Love these birds. I had the pleasure of photographing them a couple of years ago. I agree with Dan. I would try a vertical comp.

A beautiful species. EXP good. I would not have gone for more d-o-f for two reasons: it would be impossible to get both birds sharp and for juxtaposition type images I almost always prefer front bird sharp, rear bird o-o-f. The big problem is the juxtaposition. You needed to be either three inches to your right or three feet to your left. If the former, a vertical would have been best with the bill of the bird in front centered on the neck of the bird on the left. Moving well left would have separated the birds nicely without a merge.

Please tell us about the situation: where you photographed the birds, how many birds there are, and how easy they are to approach (in general).

I agree with Artie. It would not have been possible to get both sharp and since the birds are overlapping having the bird in the BG completely OOF is the way to go to make it less distracting.

I like the pose but would go for a vert.

Real nice shot. Lovely looking birds. Exposed real well and real nice detail in the focused bird.
    Well done.
