Havn't been out shooting , thus havn't posted recently either. Got out this AM and did some set up stuff. The Blue Jays just cannot resist the peanuts. Natural and un salted , of course.

Glad you're watching out for their health Joe! Sweet light and excellent sharpness. I would have traded some SS for a bit more DOF. I'd like to see a little more canvas at the top and bottom.

Jo lovely shot, I love the exposure and fine detail. I like the pose very much the only suggestion I have is that the jay is perhaps just a tad too large in the frame.
I have never seen a blue jay but I am hoping to post a European ajy before too long I am messing around with fill in flash too. Usually I use fill in at -1.3->-1.6 but I have recently tried manual flash.Three quick questions: was the flash on the camera, if not how far from the subject was it, what is the Guide No of the flash???

Flash was on camera above 600mm lens on a bracket. Not sure of the Guide Number. It is a Nikon SB900. I dialed it down as I only neede a small bit of fill just to "punch" things up a touch. It takes some trial and error.

Lovely light, colors, and BG and excellent detail!

Another vote for a bit more room.

I love bluejays, even though we don't find them here in the Southern tip of Africa .
I don't mind the DOF used here...

Joe sweet light and nice pose. I like the background color very much. A bit more room would be nice but I imagine you had a good reason for the tight crop.
