    Default Northern Harrier Topside Bank

From my visit with Alan Murphy last week, here's a nice topside look at a Northern Harrier. The light was a little harsh so only a topside bank would have looked good (no strong shadows). Thankfully this guy cooperated and struck the perfect pose for the lighting conditions.

When I saw the thumbnail, I said to myself, "one of Doug's shots from shooting with Alan." You didn't mention which lens. Was it the 600mm?

You have a gorgeous topside view here. Regardless of the high light, this capture really rocks. I love the way you can see all the variety of colors and feathers and the head turn...wo!

Thanks Marina! This was shot with a 300mm lens (had to borrow it from my wife! )

Fantastic view and vertical comp. works well. Would like just a tad more room top and bottom.

    Doug:

Excellent detail, pose, sharpness. Do agree about a sliver more room.

Besides the camo, were you guys shooting from a blind as well? Using an owl decoy or some other attractant?

    Really neat!

    Cheers

Hi Doug, you just seem to nail these shots every time. Great dorsal view, showing excellent detail. I do like the head turn, and adding a touch more to the bottom wont harm this.

My bad. We used an open-air blind and a decoy owl, along with the occasional call.

Excellent Doug! I wish I was there too. I lightened it up a bit, it probably doesn't exactly resemble what you saw in the finder but I think it's appealing. Excellent sharp feather details.

Unfareeekin believable detail in those wings. I am so jealous you got to shoot with Alan and got one of these as well. Congratulations on a killer image. The repost brings out even more detail.
