Default Egyptian Goose with thanks to Stu

Stu Bowie was kind enough to again arrange a session during my brief passage through Pretoria during my trip to South Africa to visit family. We had a lovely morning at the Austen Roberts sanctuary and I was impressed by the large variety of birds. Seeing Stu kicked off posts from the day with an Egyptian Goose I thought I would follow his lead. I have only just got home and am back into full work chaos so will be taking a few weeks to edit through my images from the trip. To me EGs always look in panic mode as they come in to land - I think it is the brown spot around the eye that gives them that wide-eyed panic look

Hi Tony, lovely banking angle across the water, and now you know why standing down on the lower portion creates a good eye level perspective. Great IQ for such a high ISO, and your ss has resulted in good sharpness. Well captured.

Hy tony, I like the composition, the bird is going down, so IMO the extra space bottom is ok.
Three weeks ago, I saw one of this in my region, maybe one that have escaped captivity, sense they don't exist in my region. Maybe its global warming ;)

Nice dynamic pose, and good colours throughout. I see one of the primaries' tip is literally hanging by a thread! Could be an illusion, but to me the image may need a slight CW rotation. You are right about the wide-eyed almost panicky look to these guys!!

This is great the pose is dynamic and the IQ and the amount of low contrast detail at ISO 3200 is just awesome and hallmark of the D3S. well done

    Tony:

Glad you got a chance to get out with Stu. These guys are quite photogenic and seem like such characters.

Good comments above. +1 on slight CW rotation.

    Like the framing.

Look forward to more from your trip.

    Cheers

That is so wayy cool. Great banking pose and I really like the reflections from the water on the underside of the wings and belly
